Open house at Tiphaine Calmettes’ studio on the second floor of the Manufacture des Œillets.
An edition conceived by Kiösk (Elsa Aupetit & Martin Plagnol) restituting the artist’s residency accompanies the event and will be available to the public.
Through her practice of sculpture, installation, and performative forms in the form of meals, Tiphaine Calmettes is interested in the relationship we have with our environment. Through food, she addresses the interdependence between life forms and their status in our consideration of animate beings.
Working with researchers, particularly in anthropology and history, she is interested in how our ways of being in the world can be rethought by reviving forgotten practices and know-how. She seeks to bring narratives to life in the form of collective experiences.
Tiphaine Calmettes is resident at Crédac in 2020-2021 as part of the “artist residency programme” of the Île-de-France Region, and with the support of the City of Ivry-sur-Seine.
Artist biography
Tiphaine Calmettes (née en 1988) vit et travaille à Paris. Elle est lauréate du Prix Aware 2020. Ses œuvres ont été exposées notamment à La Galerie CAC (Noisy-le-Sec), à La Panacée MOCO (Montpellier), à la Zoo galerie (Nantes), au Kunstwerk Carlshütte (Büdelsdorf, Allemagne), à l’École normale supérieure de Lyon, avec la Biennale de Lyon 2019.
En 2020-2021, elle a exposé au Centre Céramique contemporaine La Borne (Henrichemont), à Ygrec ENSAPC (Aubervilliers), à L’IAC (Villeurbanne) et au Centre international d’art et du paysage de l’île de Vassivière (Beaumont-du-Lac) ; elle a également été en résidence aux Laboratoires d’Aubervilliers de janvier à septembre 2021.
