Atelier de médiation culturellle
University of Paris
In the context of the teaching program “Ateliers Lettres pour l’oral et l’écrit” of the UFR Lettres, Arts, Cinéma, four students from the University of Paris imagined and organized an educational project and artistic workshops for the public of Crédac. The aim of this project is to train students to give tours and to carry out educational workshops as well as to allow for a unique experience between different audiences.
For this year 2019-2020, the students proposed visits and a series of workshops around the exhibition Jardin d’hiver of the German photographer Jochen Lempert (from January 24 to June 27, 2020). A first group of students worked on the setting up of activities around the composition of the image for a class from the elementary school Saint-Jean Gabriel in Paris 4th. The second group proposed a module around the practice of black and white photography with constraints that allowed high school students to deal with the different subjects and typologies of photographs specific to Jochen Lempert. For both groups, the students chose to carry out a first workshop session in class before discovering the works at Crédac, and then to finish with a second workshop session in order to get the students to work on their imagination first, and then their critical thinking, based on the formal elements that compose the artist’s photographs.
This inclusive program centered on hands-on workshops took place throughout the school year, from the students’ discovery of the art center, to the realization of workshops and public performances with the students, including preparatory meetings and the evaluation of student projects in collaboration with their teacher.
