Victor Villafagne

Audio performance.

Born in 1995 in Mont-de-Marsan, the artist lives and works in France. Victor Villafagne solves “his own cinematographic obsessions” by creating sculptures. In particular, he brings into play the relationship of forces and energies. Described as “energetic piles of awareness, taking the form of technological fossils”, the resulting pieces are seen as living entities that have their own life, before and after passing through his hands. They digest each other, devour each other, recycle each other. The perceptive, psycho-acoustic and other cognitive effects play a determining role in the effective interaction between the public, the artist and his work. Victor Villafagne is currently training at the Fresnoy-Studio national des arts contemporains for his sculpture project Near Life Experience.

His work has been presented at the Palais des Beaux-Arts in Paris (2021), the Creux de l’enfer in Thiers (2020) and the Czech Center in Paris (2019, 2020). In collaboration with Flora Bouteille, he has developed projects at Les Subsistances in Lyon and at the Lyon Biennial (2019), at the Salon de Montrouge (2019). They also conceived together the radio series Le palais hérmetique de la mémoire whose first episode was presented at the Ars Electronica festival. The continuation of the series was broadcast by the Centre d’art contemporain d’Ivry - le Crédac (2021) on Crédac Radio.
