“Each person’s work served as raw material from which to create original assemblages – temporary compositions that played with the disciplinary boundaries of our respective practices (Nathalie, an artist; Pierre, a designer) and with the conventional categorisation of each work as it is typically presented in an exhibition context. As we engaged in this very open-ended process, it gradually became clear to us that what was taking shape before our eyes seemed to emanate from a third person. This is how the phrase ‘1+1=3’ came to mind, as the exercise we were undertaking led us to set aside, for a time, the obsessions that each of us brings to bear in the creation of our own work.
It is in this sense that the exhibition Andiamo (let’s go) – a title that sounds like a call to set off without knowing in advance where we are going – constitutes a unique experience in each of our journeys. This book is not merely intended as a record or a memento of the exhibition; we have conceived it as an attempt to extend, in two dimensions, this joyful experience. »
