Sujet expérimental
Davide Balula et Cédrick Eymenier
The Sujet expérimental (Experimental Subject) project is built as a variation of plastic workshops based on the sensory experimentation that certain contemporary works can provide. In middle and high school classes, as well as in a leisure center, the Sujet expérimental (Experimental Subject) project has developed the relationship to light, vision, space and hearing that the individual or group can maintain in their relationship to the world.
The artists Davide Balula and Cédrick Eymenier raise awareness among the participants about these issues by presenting their own work and then guiding them in the sound and visual objects’ creation. These productions are presented in two phases: in the form of a projection / sound diffusion at the MAC VAL Musée d’art contemporain du Val-de-Marne on Wednesday, May 30, 2007, and in the form of sound and visual installations at the Centre d’art contemporain d’Ivry - le Crédac, from June 14 to 17, 2007.
Artists biography
Cédrick Eymenier (born in 1974, lives and works between Montpellier and Paris) graduated from the École Supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Nîmes in 2001. This French photographer and video artist is also a musician and curator. His multi-faceted practice focuses on urban and peri-urban spaces, their standardization, transitory zones and the sensitive manifestations of urbanity.
The multi-sensory practice of French artist David Balula (born in 1978 in Portugal, lives and works in New York) explores fortuitous encounters, random patterns and the materiality of time. Although he works with different mediums, including sound, installation and painting, his art can take the form of recording apparatus, unusual measuring tools and scientific experiments. He regularly collaborates with chefs, dancers and musicians in improvisational performances and concerts.
