Estefanía Peñafiel Loaiza
A project with Estefania Peñafiel Loaiza and high school students organized within the framework of artist residencies in schools in partnership with the DRAC Ile-de-France and the Créteil board of education. Initiated in 2009-2010, the Lisières project continues with the implementation of an artist residency at the Romain Rolland high school in Ivry-sur-Seine. Crédac invites the artist Estefanía Peñafiel Loaiza to develop an artistic project with students from CLA, CIPPA and 1ères STG communication classes.
Estefanía Peñafiel Loaiza (born in 1978 in Ecuador, lives and works in Paris since 2002) graduated from the École National de Beaux Arts de Paris in 2007, and has participated in post-graduate programs at the ENSBA in Lyon and Paris. “Estefanía Peñafiel Loaiza works as an archaeologist of the image; in the shadows, she is not interested in what is visible on an image, but in what lies behind it […]: dust, stains, halos, so many manifestations that are barely visible but that say less about themselves than about what is not shown. Leaving a trace, marking something, so many gestures that interest the artist by what they imply. Disappearance, or at least the possibility of disappearance, is always present in the artist’s work, especially through the work of gumming and erasing undertaken by the artist for several years. …] For the artist, creating is firstly a political act. Estefanía Peñafiel Loaiza presented her solo exhibition entitled l’espace épisodique at the Centre d’art contemporain d’Ivry - le Crédac in 2014. Mickaël Phelippeau (born in 1978, lives in Paris) is a choreographer, dancer and visual artist.
