Eden and Gethsemane: Derek Jarman's garden

Marco Martella & Claire Le Restif

A discussion between Marco Martella (writer, gardener, and member of the European Institute of Gardens and Landscapes) and Claire Le Restif, curator and director of Crédac. Together they discuss the Prospect Cottage garden created by Derek Jarman from 1987 until his death in 1994.

Since 2010, Marco Martella has been editing the journal Jardins at Éditions du Sandre and, now, at Pommes sauvages. Using heteronyms, he published Le Jardin perdu (Jorn de Précy, ed. Actes Sud, 2011), Jardins en temps de guerre (Teodor Cerić, ed. Actes Sud, 2014), Un petit monde, un monde parfait (ed. Poesis, 2018) published also in Italy and Spain.
For these books he has received several awards: “Lire au jardin” (Domaine de Versailles), “Saint-Fiacre”, “Redouté”, “Ceppo Natura”, and “Michel Tournier”.
In 2016 he published in Italy Tornare al giardino (ed. Ponte alle Grazie). He also writes articles and monographs on landscape in magazines such as Polia or the Revue des deux mondes.

This meeting is available as a podcast on Crédac Radio (listen on Anchor, iTunes or Spotify).
