Take care!

Hélène Carbonnel, Marion Vasseur Raluy

Initiated during the summer of 2021, Take Care! is an artistic residency taking the form of writing workshops conducted within l’Orangerie nursing home (Ivry-sur-Seine).The residents of the nursing home, along with podcast producer Hélène Carbonnel and curator-researcher Marion Vasseur Raluy, both of whom initiated the project, will participate in the writing and production of a multi-media piece that includes theatrical staging.

Beyond the current health situation, the attention given to care is a subject discussed and studied for several decades within sociology and art, and raises the following questions: what does this label mean for each one of us, which summons in us the caregiver? How do we take care of ourselves? What are the words, the gestures, the rituals that give us well-being?

With Take care!, Hélène Carbonnel and Marion Vasseur Raluy are working on writing workshops and a co-creation of a play with a group of elderly people. In this joint work, the issues of care, dependence, isolation and the strategies developed to overcome it form the basis of a fictional scenario inspired by the personal experiences of the participants.
The exchanges and stories from the writing workshops will be transposed using digital tools through a multimedia staging. This first digital version will then be adapted into a play captured at the El Duende theater in Ivry.

Take care! brings out the possibility of putting the common back together in a period where social and generational distancing has become a relational norm.
